What Can I do For My Sick Dog/Cat?
Here’s 5 Quick tips ~
1) Breathe
No doubt.
When you have a furry one in pain or struggling with symptoms it can be stressful.
When we get stressed, it’s easy for critical thinking to go right out the window.
So, #1 go easy on yourself and breathe.
2) Cause NOT Symptoms
Sadly, when it comes to health, most focus on doing whatever they can to stop symptoms.
Maybe it’s vomiting, maybe it’s diarrhea or coughing.
We’ve learned symptoms are there for a reason.
When you give the body something to stop symptoms you are going against what the body is naturally trying to do.
The thing to focus on is the cause rather than the symptoms.
3) Maybe NOT Food
Think back to the last time you were sick . . . .
Did you feel like eating?
If your dog or cat doesn’t feel like eating it’s usually best to honor that and not force them to eat.
If a dog or cat is weak and they aren’t eating one big misconception is they are weak because they need food.
Usually that isn’t true.
If they are weak, it’s because their body is struggling internally with cleansing and healing itself.
One of the best things we’ve found that can help hydrate a sick dog or cat is coconut water.
However, BE AWARE.
You want REAL coconut water.
Most coconut water you can buy in cans and bottles are very low in quality.
They have been damaged by applying heat to the coconut water.
Some have preservatives and additives like sugar in them.
It’s important to get the real deal!
And guess what? Most dogs and some cats LOVE it too!
4) Shift
Most pawrents want to find and buy something right away that they think might help.
Makes PAWriffic sense because we love our dog/cat and we don’t want to see them sick and in pain.
However, most things on the market (especially ones marketed for pets) are typically very low in quality.
At best, most things only suppress symptoms or make things in the long run worse.
Instead, think about . . . .
Foods they eat
Water they drink
Drugs they might be taking
Air they are breathing
AND
What you might be applying to their hair or skin.
Because those things play a HUGE part to the health of your dog/cat.
